Apple, Google’ın TV Hamlesini Gördü!
Google çok yakın zamanda Google TV‘yi resmen duyurmuştu. Pek çok kişi bilmeyebilir (veya unutmuş bile olabilir) ama aslında Apple bu konuda Google’dan çok önce girişimini yapmıştı. 2007 yılında çıkan Apple TV, Steve Jobs’un bir “hobi projesi” olarak nitelendirilmişti.
Var olan Apple TV‘yi bilgisayar ile televizyon arasındaki önemli bir köprü olarak görmek mümkün. Pek çok heyecan verici özelliği olmasına rağmen, günümüzde kullanıcı beklentilerini tam olarak karşılayabildiğini iddia etmek zor.
Üstelik Google, geç de olsa girdiği TV dünyasında bazı önemli özelliklerini duyurmuşken. Bildiğiniz gibi “TV Meets Web, Web Meets TV” sloganı ile ortaya çıkan Google TV sadece YouTube gibi online video paylaşım sitelerini televizyona taşımakla kalmıyor, aynı anda internette sörf yapmanızı, Facebook’tan arkadaşlarınızı dürterken diğer yandan Android 2.1 işletim sisteminin tüm özelliklerini kullanarak, Google TV’ye özel uygulamalar hazırlanmasını bile mümkün kılıyor.
Yan yana koyup karşılaştırdığınızda şu aşamada Google TV‘nin Apple TV‘ye göre biraz daha ağır bastığını söylemek mümkün. Fakat bu durum da değişmek üzere… Engadget’ın “Apple’a çok yakın bir kaynağın” beyanatı üzerine duyurduğu bir haber, Apple’ın bu konuda atılıma geçmek üzere olduğunu ortaya koyuyor.
Google TV
Engadget’ın haberine göre yeni nesil Apple TV; iPhone OS 4 kullanan ve izlemek isteyeceğiniz içerikleri sadece kendi üzerindeki sabit diskte değil, internet üzerinde de depolamanıza olanak veren özelliklerle donatılıyor. İçerikleri “bulutlar üzerinde” tutabilmesi sayesinde daha önce 160 GB olan veri depolama kapasitesi ile 16 GB’a kadar düşürülmüş. Bu durum Apple TV fiyatlarına da yansımış ve iddialara göre yeni Apple TV sadece 99 dolara satılacak.
Apple TV
1080p HD özelliğine de sahip olacak olan Apple TV’de iPhone uygulamalarına benzer uygulama desteği olup olmayacağı şu an için belirsiz. Ama Google kendi televizyonunda bu yönde ilerlerken Apple’ın da geri kalmayacağını tahmin ediyorum.
Böylesine güzel bir haberin Haziran’daki WWDC’de bizzat Steve Jobs tarafından duyurulmasını isterdik ama muhtemelen Jobs bu konuya girmeyecek. Yeni iPhone şimdilik Apple için biraz daha önemli.
Bizim için önemli olan ise Google ve Apple’ın rekabetinin televizyonlara sıçramasının yol açacağı yenilikler. Büyük ihtimalle şu saatten sonra Apple TV, Jobs için de bir hobi olmaktan çıkacak ve önemli yatırımlar ile daha da geliştirilecektir. Google ise zaten yenilikler konusunda ne kadar istekli olduğunu her fırsatta gösteriyor. Görüşüne göre bu iki devin TV rekabetinde en çok kazanan kullanıcılar olacak…
